About this site:

My works on the Web, in various reincarnated forms, have been in existence since 1999.

Initially, I did not own a private domain (like PrincessMonkey.com), and I hosted my first articles on the University of Illinois "students.uiuc.edu" Web servers. One memorable compilation of my online work was a personal Web site known as The Realm of Shailiness . I expanded The Realm rapidly, and it ran online from 1999-2003, one year after my college graduation.

When it was time for a new, larger, and more private Web space, "PrincessMonkey.com" was purchased for development in September of 2002.

Described briefly above, The name "PrincessMonkey" is derived from a particularly favorite stuffed monkey of mine, which a good friend and I rescued during my college years for my monkey collection .

But that is not all. The address also represents an eclectic array of artistic and iconic interests, which range from a well-traveled site about actress Audrey Hepburn and dancer Gene Kelly , to my Disney doll collection , to my photographs from travels , to my fansite about Earl and Mooch in Patrick McDonnell's Mutts comic strip , to more personal musings such as my page of quotes , and my related Monkey Shop to buy unique items! (And there is so much that I have not mentioned!) Indeed, over the years, I have been fortunate to have had the time to organize, add new content and modernize the layouts.

So, here we are today. I have hand-composed the HTML, CSS, and XML over the last 6 years. I must thank all of the guests who visited my old site, as well as those of you who continue visiting my monkeys and I. Please continue your support and your words of encouragement . Let this Web site stand to inspire generations of visitors in years to come.

If you know someone who does it, or you do it... Isn't that sad?

PrincessMonkey.com is spiffy because I took personal time and effort to hand-write the code and fashion its diverse pages. And I am paying for this Web space. Don't ruin the Web for the rest of us by stealing.

I have seen images and text that I have personally authored for this site (which were not scanned or copied), floating on the Internet. I have stopped several individuals, and although this copying hurts to the point of taking down certain pages of my site, I do continue to protect my integrity and my work.

**** If you are authoring anything online that you are proud of, you understand where I am coming from. You would want the same respect shown to your work as any other artist.

Please do not copy anything on this site and save it for something other than strictly personal use. You may leave it on your computer, but it is not for your Web site. This statement applies to all print-work, pictures, movies, and text.

1.) I can tell you if I made the image(s) that you want, or if they're public domain. In 85% of the pieces, I made it myself. Sometimes you can tell, sometimes you cannot.

2.) Tell me WHERE you will display my work. Send me a Web address if it's online. For the sake of art, it's not enjoyable to visit a Web site that features only stolen images. (Plus, if your similarly-themed site gets 1000's of hits, it's likely that the same people who visit you, visited me.)

3.) You may use my work for educational presentations. One professor did exactly this for his PowerPoint presentation when he lectured overseas. Or you can use my work in your classroom, as another instructor did on his worksheets. But all of these happy guests did one thing: they asked me about it first.
