Why PrincessMonkey.com?
The address sounds hip and sweet—traits that fit the theme
I wanted for my website when I first created it in 1999.
I am the original Princess Monkey. There was no other "princess monkey" around when I first created the concept. Online princesses and monkeys seem ubiquitous today, but that was not the case 10+ years ago. I remember the early years when I had to describe "Princess Monkey," and now I have to fight for this username in social media!
I am excited about the The World of Princess Monkey, and it's nice to see how far we've come. PrincessMonkey.com is an unusual address, but I always hoped that my visitors would remember it and return.
Not to mention that The World of Princess Monkey evokes
imagery of totally adorable monkeys! I definitely have them here.
PrincessMonkey.com : Meet Shaili
Hi! I'm Shaili. Thanks for visiting and supporting my site, PrincessMonkey.com.
That's me pictured at left, during my 2002 visit in Paris as I rode on one of the first public Segway models. I could control where I glided just by pushing a small lever with my right thumb. Today's models work by moving the handlebar. No thumbs required.
I love technology and the stunning opportunities that new gadgets can provide. Perhaps more impressive than riding an early Segway around Paris, I was among the first three people to ride a Segway around Rome! We borrowed the Segways from a man in Florence.
I taught our Roman guide how to use his new transporter, and we carefully made our way around the city. Italian kids and adults crowded us at the curbs to stop us and ask "Quanto costa?" regarding how much it cost.
"Un sacco di Euro," I replied with basic Italian. They always nodded & grinned back in awe.
Transportation on a Segway was smoother and easier than I ever could've imagined. I continue to give technology a chance, hoping to find that Wow! moment in new places. But this experience in Paris was unforgettable.
